New Max Payne Trailer (updated)

It looks cool, allright. I hope it doesn’t end up sucking…

Anyone know what the song is?

One of the most bizarre things I’ve seen

No, I don’t have an explanation

Have we lost our minds?

Pitcher, 9, is told he’s ‘too good’ to play

Yes – banned for being TOO good. Is this really what we’ve come to? Some other team LITERALLY took their ball and went home. You really want to tell a 9-year-old NOT to be so good at something?

I’m guessing that was hope

It sure wasn’t change…

Obama picks Joe Biden as his VP…

A Senator with 36 years experience? That’s change?

Just so you know, Biden also hates guns so I’m guessing that won’t pick up any red states. This is the VP selection equivalent of Matrix Reloaded – lots of buildup and then eh…

Because the government is so efficient

Obama says that if he were starting from scratch he would design a single-payer system

The part that blows me away :

Obama’s current plan for health care aims to provide universal coverage by offering a new government-run marketplace in which Americans could buy insurance, mostly from private companies

We pretty much have that now without being government-run, it’s called picking up the phone and calling to get health insurance.

Continuing :

His new marketplace would create a new government-run plan, like Medicare, to compete against the private plans.

Would that be the Medicare that is scheduled to blow up bigger and sooner than Social (In)Security?

Take a look at the Tenncare system on which a national system was supposed to be based : cost overruns, people losing prescription coverage, doctors going out of practice, etc… Yeah, let’s take this national

Beast With A Billion Backs – Review

Last night I got around to watching the second straight-to-video Futurama movie, coming after the first Bender’s Big Score.

I thought Bender’s Big Score was WAY overdone. It was as if every writer had all these pent-up ideas for the show when it was canceled and they attempted to get them all in to this first movie. As much of a Futurama fan as I am, even I started looking at the clock in the hopes it would end.

Thankfully, The Beast With a Billion Backs was much better-made and better-written. It “felt” more like an extended episode of Futurama. The movie begins with, what else, a big tear in the Universe. However, it just sits there and does nothing. Meanwhile, Amy and Kiff are planning their wedding and Fry is dating a new girl (voiced by Brittany Murphy). Over the course of the movie various characters explore love (that makes it sound sappy but think of our characters and you’ll realize how badly they’ll find to screw it up) and find out what they big honking crack in the sky is.

The writers got back to putting in more jokes that always fit – Bender’s drinking, Fry’s stupidity, the Professor’s forgetfulness, Zoidberg’s uselessness and making more of the jokes about things in the future being bigger versions of things that already sucked today. There are also plenty of the usual sight gags and background funnies that you really have to be paying attention to see.

In addition to Brittany Murphy, David Cross does a celebrity voice in the film.

Overall, it’s much better than the first film and although I felt it a tad too long I found that there were at least a couple of moments that I had to rewind and watch a few more times before continuing.

Now I’m ticked

Are you kidding me? Madden 09 comes out and after spending much time looking for it, I discover that they did not create a version for the PC. In fact they dropped it altogether.

Article

Another blow to PC gaming…I might end up having to buy an XBox or something.

A few things I’ve figured out

Bored at work and haven’t posted in a while so I thought I’d just throw out a list of things I’ve figured out in 33 years…

  • The older you get, the more you need people in your life not afraid to kick your ass especially if they know how to kick it in the right direction.
  • For some reason, the trip back always seems shorter than the trip there.
  • The big epiphanies seem to occur spontaneously. They never hit you when you’re thinking about an issue, instead they hit you while you’re drifting off sitting at a red light
  • Time really does heal all wounds but that doesn’t mean it happens overnight.
  • Just because speaker cable is more expensive doesn’t make it better.
  • Most of the time the person you like is the one that’s wrong for you and the person that’s right for you is the one you’re ignoring.
  • Hardwood floors even more awesome than I thought they’d be.
  • You’re in the wrong job if you can do it while asleep or drunk most of the time

Anything else?

Awkward…

Just when it seemed like someone would avoid the Madden Curse since he was retired, well Brett Favre is apparently back.

Now not only does he risk becoming a big-ole victim of the Madden Curse (I expect the blimp to land on him during a scrimmage) but now Madden faces the prospect of their cover boy being in a completely different jersey on opening day from the one on the cover and it’s too late to reprint now – the game comes out in a week.
