Because the government is so efficient

Obama says that if he were starting from scratch he would design a single-payer system

The part that blows me away :

Obama’s current plan for health care aims to provide universal coverage by offering a new government-run marketplace in which Americans could buy insurance, mostly from private companies

We pretty much have that now without being government-run, it’s called picking up the phone and calling to get health insurance.

Continuing :

His new marketplace would create a new government-run plan, like Medicare, to compete against the private plans.

Would that be the Medicare that is scheduled to blow up bigger and sooner than Social (In)Security?

Take a look at the Tenncare system on which a national system was supposed to be based : cost overruns, people losing prescription coverage, doctors going out of practice, etc… Yeah, let’s take this national

Y’know, my chiropractor was actually happy when TennCare cut out its chiropractic benefits. It saved him money.

You know, one former director resigned because he was to go before an industry group to assure them that everything is fine when he knew that it wasn’t and refused to go along with it.
