For the life of me, I can’t figure out this Black Friday phenomenon. Are retailers that desperate to get people into the stores that they have to drop prices to the point where they create self-sustaining riots?

Seriously, people? Is it that important to get a cheap watch or to find that MUST HAVE toy for the kids? Some of you really might want to let your kids learn some disappointment someday.
Another thing that annoys me is the television news coverage on Friday mornings : big shock – people are at the mall buying crap. Look! The parking lots are full! Here are some stupid people that got up at 2AM, took some amphetamines, and are now going from store to store like the Tasmanian Devil.
I’ve often thought that a news station should just run the exact same footage from the previous year to see if anyone notices. I doubt anyone would.
UPDATE : While I’m thinking about it, who are these goobers buying their spouses cars for Christmas?
