Nashville Tax Day Tea Party
So I went out to join the Nashville Tax Day Tea Party protest yesterday at the State Capitol. As expected, the turnout was quite large but civilized. The few police that I saw in the area were mostly relaxing or chatting casually to people, a sign to me that they weren’t expecting trouble. The two speakers I “heard” were Phil Valentine and Rep. Marsha Blackburn. I put “heard” in quotation marks because they speakers weren’t nearly loud enough for the crowd size. I see this not as a failure but a success in that the crowd was so large. In addition the “horn honkers” were out in force, some holding signs out of their car.
My favorite sign of the day:
Again, imagine if this had happened under Bush’s watch
Buy a car!
Everyone remember how much strife they gave Bush about how tapping foreign lines would lead to, well, this sort of thing. Bush was trying to intercept terrorist communications. Obama seems to be going for a power grab. In actuality, it is technically impossible to monitor the entire Internet simply because of the massive amount of traffic that goes through every minute. Instead it could be used to monitor the traffic of specific people but the Obama administration would never target someone politically, would it?
So ACLU, are you going to be all over this? I won’t hold my breath
Not even close…
Maybe they could compromise and just release the results in Klingon or in Obama-speak, which is completely incomprehensible anyway
Happy April Fools Day!
President Obama announced that the government was taking over running General Motors and is going to handle the warranty repairs of both GM and Chrysler with the efficiency of the DMV
President Obama upset the press by effectively staging a media blackout while he’s in Europe for the G-20 Conference
New Health and Human Services nominee Kathleen Sebelius admitted to having done her taxes incorrectly and confessed to owing over $7000 in back taxes
New York public workers got an additional $165 billion in added salary in the new budget even though the private sector is losing jobs left and right
President Obama nominates Dawn Johnsen for the office of Legal Council at the Justice Department. She is on record as saying that pregnancy is like slavery
Just kidding about all that, April Fools!
New York’s $132 billion budget, on course to be rubber-stamped to night, is an unbridled disaster for the state — but a big win for its public-employee unions…The spending plan picks the pockets of the private sector to the tune of $8 billion in new taxes and fees — while the unions barely get a haircut.
That’s right. Forget about everyone being in the same boat together. It’s tough times but not for public union members in New York state. It seems to me that everyone is just trying to loot the treasury and not be the ones holding the bag.
I predict a coming blue state implosion of massive proportions while those on the dole take all they want and all those who produce flee. Hey what’s one more (okay, two) federal bailout right? Because China is still buying up treasuries, right? right?
Hello, is anyone still here?
